A bird sanctuary

Located in the heart of the estuary, the lower Saint-Lawrence islands are a bird paradise. The diversity of habitats allows many species to breed and feed. The steep cliffs of Îles du Pot à l’Eau-de-Vie are home for thousands of nesting Razorbills, Common Murres and Black Guillemots while the small bays along the shores of Île aux Lièvres are important rearing sites for Common Eiders.

Check  for updated lists of birds observed on île aux Lièvres and îles du Pot à l’Eau-de-Vie. You can even contribute to these lists by adding your own observations!

Mind the birds!

You will be allowed to roam freely over Île aux Lièvres and Îles du Pot à l’Eau-de-Vie only once the birds have finished nesting in early July. Access to certain areas of these islands is prohibited at all times. Duvetnor staff will tell you which trails are open.
