Values

Minimal environmental footprint

Duvetnor has always offered activities in harmony with Nature. This explains why each step of a project is managed with a minimal impact on the environment. The main efforts have been oriented towards a sustainable production and use of energy and water and proper management of waste material. IN 2023, Duvetnor was awarded the Biosphere certification.

Green energy

In the last few years, Duvetnor has installed several solar panels for a total capacity of 15 000 W that supply energy to the buidings that accommodate visitors and the staff. The production of renewable energy has significantly reduced the use of kerosene generators to produce electricity with an annual economy of 4 500 litres of fuel.

Effective water management

Providing drinking water and managing waste water is achieved with no energy consumption. Pumping water is done through an hydraulic ram pump that used kinetic energy instead of electricity. Waste water treatment is based on the advanced technology developed by Premier Tech that used natural substrate for filtration that requires no energy input.

Well planned waste material management

Managing waste material on islands visited by thousands of people is not an easy task. However, implementing recycling procedures and composting has reduced the amount of material that needs to be taken to a mainland landfill.

Outdoor ethics

Duvetnor promotes responsible practices in the great outdoor and encourages visitors to follow the Leave No Trace’s principles:

  • Plan Ahead and Prepare
  • Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
  • Dispose of Waste Properly
  • Leave What You Find
  • Respect Wildlife
  • Be Considerate of Other Visitors
